Synesthesia in Art

I may have heard the term somewhere, perhaps in an art class I took a few years ago. The term is defined as "the elicitation of perceptual experiences in the absence of the normal sensory stimulation, in the arts the concept of synaesthesia in the arts is more often defined as the simultaneous perception of two or more stimuli as one gestalt experience." I don't really have that talent in synaesthesia but the whole information about synaesthesia is very interesting.

I enjoyed the examples of the artists' quotes and how they did that. My favorite was Marcia Smilack's idea as how she created them. Since I love taking photographs, I never thought she can experience through that. When I take a picture, I just like how the structure of the picture looks like...It's like how to look at the art of it. I like to take pictures with different angles or anything beautiful.

The history of the synesthesia is very interesting. I can’t imagine that those people would study the music and art and they would try to match the notes to the colors. How can they do that? So Amazing! After I read the theory, I would like to experience that one day.

Even though I took one or two art history courses, I only learned about the structure of the paintings and colors and why they chose to paint these certain things. But I didn’t know that back then and now those painters can paint through music along with the colors they felt or have felt.

This is an interesting concept to where I can learn how to use artistic expressions through music and color, while I paint or take a photograph or whatsoever. Cool!
